This 24-year old from the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, fell in love with music whilst still in primary school. After two years of singing in a high school youth choir, he started taking singing lessons and continued with them for four years. It was not long before he discovered his love for harmony and composition, something that shines through in the many strong songs on his first album. While developing his skills, he started his own rock band, Kareem. The band has had a few small changes in its line-up, still today is it Omar's backing band.

At the end of 2004 Omar entered a young talent show, screened on national TV; he was declared the winner, picking up the biggest televote ever recorded in Slovenia. At the end of 2004 his first single 'Vse, kar si zelis' (Sunny Day) was released and so far, it remains the biggest selling single of 2005 in Slovenia.

At the beginning of February Omar entered the Ema festival, where he once again confirmed his star status by winning the hearts of Slovenian audience and beating fierce competition to win with his song 'Stop' (On My Own). He represented Slovenia at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest.

His first album, entitled simply 'Omar', followed in mid February and went straight to number one. It has been at the top of the charts since. It is already the best-selling album of the year.

YOGURT:

Nina Kosir (vocals)

Marko Zorec (guitar)

Danijel Rajh (bass)

Ales Uranjek (drums)

Yogurt was founded in 2000, when guitarist Marko decided to invite 3 young musicians to make music with him. In first three years of their existence the band recorded one album, released two videos and gave over 60 concerts. After splitting up with their former singer, the band decided it was time to make some changes.

The band members, along with their new singer Nina Kosir, closed themselves into a studio and recorded their second album Elektrika (Electricity). All songs were written by Marko Zorec. Since January 2005 Yogurt has been playing live again.
