KOSOVNI ODPADKI (ITALY), SKALP

Stage: Vecer stage
Time: 07.07.2005 at 21.30

KOSOVNI ODPADKI:

Mauro Punteri (vocals, guitar), Leo Virgili (trombone, trumpet, guitar, vocals)

Davide »Virus« Drius (accordion, vocals), Jvan Moda (drums, percussions)

Oscar »Calendula« Schwander (bass, vocals), Adriano Coco (violin, vocals)

Michele Bregant (clarinet, saxophone)

KOSOVNI ODPADKI – the name comes from Slovene and literary means bulk waste – see themselves as representatives of the other pole of globalization and strong consumerism, ie. systematic waste of resources. The band recycles sounds, rhythms, languages and traditions. Some people consider these as waste and garbage, but Kosovni Odpadki see them as raw material for creating something new and alive.

The band comes from Friuli, the oriental border of Italy, but their linguistic and blood ties bond them to a much wider area stretching all the way from the Balkans to Argentina, from Bolivia to the Middle East. Their music and sound is "easy" but never banal, their lyrics are in Friulan and Slovene.

SKALP:

Peter Krkoc (vocals)

Tonci Valic (drums)

Robert Sirok (guitar)

Matjaz Koron (bass, vocals)

Mladen Marjanovic (guitar, vocals)

SKALP, a band from the Slovenian costal area, started off in 1998 as a local band. After they had begun performing on Slovene festivals and doing the opening acts for some of Slovenes biggest music bands, they became known beyond their local borders.

Skalp music has a penetrating and melodic sound, which despite its modern arrangements quite openly flirts with legendary rock traditions. Their live-performances are marked by band's own music complemented with some covers.
