Tonight’s guests all have plenty in common. They not only come from the same town, attended the same music school, gave their first performances with “Zeleznicarska godba”, but it is mainly the fact that they come from the same family. They got their musical enthusiasm from their grandfather, a true horn-lover, who knew more about music than one would expect from an amateur.

Franci was the first one to pursue a musical career by graduating at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. During his studies he celebrated many successes and joined the Symphonic orchestra of RTV Slovenija, where he has been continuously performing for the past 20 years.

Andrea, the only flute player in the family, was the first to follow her brother’s footsteps, until Bostjan decided to study horn under the same professor, too. He pursued his education in Salzburg under prof. R. Vlatkovic and has been awarded Presernova prize for students. He now performs at home and abroad as a soloist. In 2001 he won the international competition “Citta di Porcia” in Italy.

Lenart Istenic went to music school to study both horn and cello. He completed his studies at Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy School of Music and Drama in Leipzig, whereas Katarina is attending her final year of musical gymnasium in Ljubljana. They have both won numerous prizes at competitions for young musicians in Slovenia.
