KVARTET SAKSOFOBIJA

Quartet Saksofobija was formed by young musicians, students, who were in prof. Matjaz Drevensek’s class at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. They have already won a few prizes. Members of the ensemble regularly participate in educational courses, led by many renowned professors, such as Claude Delangle, Vincent David, Arno Bornkamp, Jean-Denis Michat, Jean-Yves Fourneau, Eugene Rousseau, Steve Mauk, William H. Street, Thomas Patrick Walsh, Dragan Sremac, Sasa Nestorovic, Goran Mercep and others. They are performing throughout Slovenia.


ROK VOLK (1983) first started playing saxophone at the age of 8. After having completed Music School he pursued his education in Maribor under prof. Peter Kruder and is currently in his 3rd year of studying at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. Since October 2004 he is also a student in a class of Jean-Yves Fourmeau at Conservatoire National de Region Cergy-Pontoise as well as at Coservatoire Supeireur de Region de Paris in class of Phillipp Portojoie. He has been awarded many prizes in a category solo saxophone and participated in various international competitions.


IRENA SMID (1978) graduated from Music School in Skofja Loka where she first played flute under prof. Draga Azman and then learnt to play saxophone with prof. Aljosa Deferri. She further pursued her education in Ljubljana and is currently in her final year of studying at the Academy of Music. At the same time she is also a student of pedagogy at the Faculty of Arts.


MLADEN JAKSIC (1980) first launched his career path in Croatia and then finished his secondary school in Ljubljana. At the moment he is a final year student at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. He took part in many competitions and was awarded several prizes for his performances. He is performing both as a soloist and in an ensemble.


NINA ROGINA (1983) finished her musical education in Ptuj under prof. A. Horvat and further in Maribor under Betka Kotnik. She is currently in her 2nd year at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana and is also studying musicology at the Faculty of Arts. She has won many prizes for her achievements.
